About Blooming Kids Crafts
Hi, my name is Sarah, and I am currently a part-time working/ soon to be homeschooling mom of a 5-year-old. I love crafting, blogging, and working with children's ministry.
Some of my fondest childhood memories involved some sort of craft project. Whether it was watching my mom sew our costumes, sharing the paints with my sister, or making play dough with my aunt, the time spent fostered my current love for creativity. In recent years, it has been such a blessing to share my love for crafting (and my love for God) with my own growing daughter. Every time we work on a project together, she gains valuable skills and I gain invaluable teachable moments with her. It is my hope to create a website which displays the ways in which we can grow our kids' relationships, intellects and hearts through these one-on-one crafting moments. As you will notice, I'm a keep-it-simple kind of person. Most of the crafts you will find here can be done with easy to find (maybe even within your house) materials in under an hour. I love to use natural (or even recycled) materials when possible. I believe Blooming Kids Crafts are less about the actual craft, and more about the relationship you are building with a child. With that said, you may find crafts here that don't resemble the "kids crafts" as you know them. As you will read in my BK Blog, you will see that I am not a fan of prepackaged craft sets and stressing over the 'perfect' project. For the most part, you will find ideas here for starting crafts that stir imaginations and start conversations between you and and a child.* That is not to say that there is anything wrong with being a glitter-n-glue-sticks kind of person. Some of my daughter's proudest moments have been showing off such crafty masterpieces. Remember that crafting with kids should be less about the significance of the craft and more about your influence in a growing child's life. Whether you are a parent, teacher, caregiver, babysitter or ministry worker, the better you get to know a child as an individual created and blessed by God, the more opportunities you will have to encourage them to bloom and grow, which is of course what Blooming Kids Crafts is all about! Again, please excuse our summer construction as my husband and I are in the midst of many projects, including preparing to homeschool our precious 5 year old. I would love to share ideas on facebook, twitter, or of course pinterest! Have a fantastic family-fun summer! |
